Tinteniac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

On the Ille-et-Rance Canal, between Rennes and Saint-Malo along the greenway route V42, lies the Relais & Guinguette. Tinténiac can be explored by water, through its architectural heritage and crafts, and along signposted paths.

Culture and History

The Musée de l’Outil et des Métiers presents the work of rural craftsmen and local craftsmanship. It is located near the Voie verte and the Ille-et-Rance Canal.

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Tinténiac was built between 1900 and 1911 by the diocesan architect Arthur Régnault. It was designed in the Romano-Byzantine style and was listed as a French historic monument in 2016.

East of Place André Ferré stands the Grande Maison, the oldest of the noble houses and mansions mentioned there that are still visible; it dates from the first half of the 16th century. The Manoir des Vairies preserves its original layout both outside and inside. In the Jardin de l’Esplanade, pointed-arch arcades on two columns from the 14th century, among other features, are visible; they were preserved from the former church.

By the Water

The Écluse de la Moucherie ensemble, with its lock keeper’s house, lock and road bridge, preserves its original layout. The Écluse de la Moucherie is one of eleven locks on the Ille-et-Rance Canal.

The Écluse de la Moucherie in Tinténiac can be reached on foot via the towpath, by boat or by bicycle. Near Tinténiac, the Ille-et-Rance Canal is used for recreational boating; its banks are suitable for walking and hiking.

Routes

The Circuit de la Moucherie begins in Tinténiac and leads to the lock keeper’s houses, through the historic centre and to the Musée de l’Outil. The route is 14 kilometres long, with a stated duration of three and a half hours. The Circuit de la Moucherie is classified as moderately difficult and is marked with yellow waymarkers.

The Tinténiac section of the Circuit Du Guesclin showcases architectural heritage dating from the 12th to the 19th century. For the V42 Saint-Malo–Arzal, the Hédé/Tinténiac sector is proposed as a 45-kilometre cycling stage over two days.
