Saint-Benoît-Des-Ondes: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes already reveals its history in a striking detail: the year 1855 is inscribed on the southern side door of the nave of the Église paroissiale Saint-Benoît.

Culture and History

Older traces have also been preserved inside the church. During the renovation of the church of Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes, which began in 1786, the altarpiece and the painting of the Last Supper were preserved. The Pêcheries are also part of the history of the town: a royal decree from 1732 documents five installations in the parish of Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes – “La Brie”, “La Roussette”, “Le Bas-Champ”, as well as two others named “La Pauvrette”.

Pêcheries are enclosures built on the seashore that become dry at low tide and catch fish carried in by the incoming tide. In Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes, only one Pêcherie is still operated today.

Cycling

The La Vélomaritime circular route “Entre polders et herbus en Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel” starts and ends in Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes and covers around 70 kilometres over three days. In Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes, parking for the route is available on Rue du Bord de Mer near the town hall. The route is fully signposted; signs bearing the La Vélomaritime logo show the way.

Water and Coast

Kayaking experiences are offered on the Canal des Allemands from Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes. The canal was originally a defensive structure intended to prevent the Allies from advancing towards Saint-Malo. The municipalities of Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes and Saint-Guinoux, in cooperation with Char en Baie, offer kayaking experiences on the Canal des Allemands; Char en Baie rents out two-person kayaks departing from Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes.

Plage Verger is a beach near Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes. Plage de l'Éventail and Plage du Mole, both beaches, and Île des Rimains, an island, are also nearby.
