Saint-Aubin-D'aubigné: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné showcases its history through prominent buildings and preserved traces. The parish church of Saint-Aubin was built between 1894 and 1899 according to plans by the architect Arthur Regnault. Its stone spire is 58 metres high.

Culture and history

The former parish church also points far back into the past: its nave's northern wall preserves remains from the 11th century. The château in Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné has been mentioned since the 13th century; its western pavilion appears to date from the 17th century.

At the Le Bois-Roux site, three coal-fired lime kilns were built from 1857 onwards. Lime production there continued until the beginning of the Second World War. Another testimony to local everyday life is the covered communal washhouse, completed in 1906 and restored only recently through an international youth volunteering project.

The market hall was built following an award in 1853 by the entrepreneur Thominé from Rennes, under the direction of the departmental architect Charles Langlois. The former market hall now houses the library.

Nature and trails

At the communal pond, a biodiversity trail leads through the local flora and fauna. Information boards support exploration; the trail is 1.5 kilometres long, takes an estimated 1 hour and 30 minutes, has an elevation difference of 10 metres and is accessible to everyone. A fitness trail for beginners and those who are physically fit is also available at the same communal pond.

There are two walking routes in Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné: a short route of 5 kilometres and a long route of 17.3 kilometres. Two mountain biking routes cover 19 and 27 kilometres; they follow route number 22.

A weekly market takes place every Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Place des Halles.

The “La forêt d’Arthur” geocaching route is best completed by car or bicycle. It includes visits to churches in Liffré, Gosné and Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné.

Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné can be reached via the RD 175, a four-lane road connected to the Rennes ring road.
