Beaucé: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A circular route associated with Beaucé follows a Voie Verte and runs along the Couesnon. The same circular route leads to the landscaped pond at Vertes Rives.

Nature and trails

The Parc de loisirs des Vertes Rives is located in the centre of Beaucé. The section of the Voie verte between Fougères and Vitré is part of La Régalante. The park is accessible to people with reduced mobility and prams, and offers a play area for toddlers, a zip line, a pyramid, an obstacle course, a covered picnic area and fishing opportunities.

The Circuit de Niche Coucou is an 11-kilometre, moderately difficult hiking trail in Beaucé. It runs alongside several streams that feed the Couesnon and includes a ridge trail overlooking the Fougères basin. From the Niche Coucou viewpoint, the panoramic view extends across the Couesnon catchment area. Niche Coucou is also regarded as a stargazing site.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Martin in Beaucé dates from the 12th century and was rebuilt in the 17th century. Its layout is in the shape of a Latin cross; the church also preserves two small Romanesque window openings. The granite baptismal fonts with trefoil arcades date from the 15th century. This furnishing has been listed as a Monument historique since 1907.

The earliest mentions of the Manoir de la Chaudronnerais date from the 13th century. The surviving Manoir de la Chaudronnerais comprises buildings whose oldest parts date from the 17th century.

The Manoir de la Soinière is one of the oldest buildings in Beaucé. It has a doorway with mouldings characteristic of the 15th century and preserves three large fireplaces with forms dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.

In the village of Haut Patrion stands a former presbytery called „logis des demi-boulets“, whose construction dates back to the late 16th century. The presbytery has a round-arched doorway with a double roll moulding, as well as window decorations, one of which depicts a chalice and a paten.

The Lulaguerre farm also reflects the region's history: until 1988, it was the agricultural holding of the Hôtel-Dieu, today's hospital in Fougères. All the milk produced at the Lulaguerre farm was intended for Fougères hospital. The gate of the Beaucé cemetery formerly stood at the entrance to a former outbuilding of the Fougères artillery barracks.
