Laillé: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Laillé lies in a landscape shaped by hills and valleys in the Vallée de la Vilaine. To the west, the town is bordered by this valley; over a distance of 3.5 km, the Vallée de la Vilaine forms the natural boundary between Laillé and Guichen. Between natural corridors, viewpoints and historical traces, the town and its surroundings present a diverse picture.

Nature and Landscape

Laillé is home to 17 ecologically significant natural areas (MNIE), which are connected to one another by two large natural corridors (GEN). These natural areas provide habitats for rare or endangered animal species, including yellowhammers, European nightjars and red-backed shrikes.

The landscape can also be viewed from several trails. The Circuit de la Vallée runs south of Laillé town centre and offers views of the Vallée de la Vilaine and Rennes. The Circuit du bourg follows the edge of the town centre and likewise offers views of Rennes and the Vallée de la Vilaine. On the GR39, there are views of the Vilaine valleys from various viewpoints near Laillé.

History and Culture

The oldest traces of human presence in the Laillé area date back to around 4000 BC. The Menhir de la Roche qui Chôme was erected by the first farmers and toppled around 1869 while people were searching for a treasure.

Religious traditions have also shaped the history of the town. The pilgrimage of Le Désert began around the 17th century. Every 15 August, a procession connects the town centre of Laillé with the Chapelle du Désert. The Saint-Michel festival remains one of the highlights of Laillé’s events calendar.

The Eglise Saint-Martin and the Musée des Beaux-Arts are located in the surroundings of Laillé. The wider regional area also includes the Abbaye Notre-Dame-en-Saint-Melaine and Châteaugiron Castle.

Routes and Viewpoints

The Circuit de la Chapelle is a hilly, wooded route in Laillé. The Circuit de la Vallée lies south of the town centre, while the Circuit du bourg runs along the edge of the town centre. In addition, the 31 km cycling route “Vélo Promenade – La Vallée de la Vilaine” leads up to the heights of Laillé.

The GR39 crosses the Vilaine and then leads up to the heights of Laillé. Near Laillé, this long-distance hiking trail offers views of the Vilaine valleys from various viewpoints.
