La Boussac: Holiday Apartments and Houses

La Boussac combines architectural landmarks, memories of everyday life in the village in times gone by, and paths through the countryside.

Culture and History

The present-day Eglise Saint Pierre was built in 1891 according to plans by the architect Alfred-Louis Frangeul. It has 41 stained-glass windows, including 26 figurative windows and 15 windows with grisaille decoration.

The Ancienne mairie also reflects several periods in the history of the village: before the French Revolution, the courthouse of the Lords of Landal stood on this site. When it was built, the first floor housed the town hall and the school. Today, it contains community rooms and the library.

The Tour du Brégain is a former monastery, probably dating from the 11th century, in the southeast of the municipality of La Boussac. It is now privately owned and cannot be visited. The Le Lavoir was a place where washerwomen met to do the laundry and exchange news from the village. The Prieuré de Bregain in La Boussac was listed as a historic monument on 6 January 1926.

Hiking and Countryside

The Circuit de la Tour du Bregain is a moderately difficult, 19-kilometre hiking trail with a duration of four hours. The Circuit du Bocage No. 11 passes the privately owned Prieuré de Brégain; from there, it offers a panoramic view over the bay and the Pays de Dol.
