Sixt: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Sixt reveals its scenic side at the Site de la Roche: three ponds, a fitness trail and a picnic area are part of this site.
Culture and History
The present-day Saint-Sixt church stands in the village and was built in 1881 according to plans by the Nantes architect Liberge. Its stained-glass windows bear the signature “Meuret et Lemoine, Nantes” and are dated 1882–1883.
The Manoir de la Cour de Sixt is one of the municipality’s most outstanding examples of architectural heritage. It contains a fireplace dating from 1572 that is 3 metres wide and 4 metres high.
The Château de Bézyl was originally built in 1870 in the Palladian style. Inside, it features colourful frescoes with rural scenes and windows decorated with stained glass.
Only the water reservoir and the adjacent sluice remain visible of the now completely ruined Moulin à eau de Sixt. The mill was a grain mill and fulling mill.
The Sixt-sur-Aff cultural heritage programme includes the tours “La traversée du Bourg” and “Moments d’histoire”, which convey the history of everyday local life. Another cultural offering is the interactive investigation game “Sixt et le convoi fantôme”, which is based on puzzles, logical thinking and deduction.
Nature and Trails
The “Les hauts de Sixt” hiking trail in Sixt-sur-Aff is 10 kilometres long. There are opportunities for walks along the banks of the Aff in Sixt-sur-Aff; the river also forms part of Sixt-sur-Aff’s boundary.
Sixt-sur-Aff is served by the RED network’s demand-responsive transport service.
