Nature

The banks of the Odet in Plomelin can be explored on foot or by boat. The Gallo-Roman remains in Plomelin are located on the banks of the Odet. The main access point to the Odet for launching a boat in Plomelin is at the Rossulien slipway; the other access points to the Odet in Plomelin are for pedestrians. Marked paths in Plomelin lead along small landscaped woodland trails to the banks of the Odet and through municipal forests and bocage landscapes. The Étang de Corroac’h is suitable for fishing. At Lestremeur stands a black poplar with five trunks, classified as a remarkable tree in Brittany.

Culture and History

The Saint-Philibert Chapel was probably built around the middle of the 17th century. It has a Latin-cross floor plan with a rounded chancel, is located near the town centre and is considered a recommended stop for walkers. The chapel is open to the public during the Pardon de Saint-Philibert and the Heritage Days.

The Château de Kerdour has a rectangular main building with five regularly arranged bays. In the late 19th or early 20th century, it was extended by a wing set back at a right angle.

Crafts and Gastronomy

The Distillerie des Menhirs in Plomelin offers guided tours. The tour introduces the history of the Le Lay family, who have worked as distillers for over 100 years, and includes the still room as well as the whisky and Lambig cellars. The tours showcase buckwheat whisky, whisky creams, Lambig, Pommeau AOC de Bretagne and traditionally produced cider. The tour concludes with a guided tasting. All year round, the Distillerie des Menhirs offers a free tour and tasting from Monday to Friday upon reservation.
