Plonévez-Du-Faou: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Plonévez-du-Faou combines sacred architectural history with paths through a green, largely unspoilt setting and local September traditions.
Culture and history
Saint-Herbot is a religious ensemble consisting of a chapel, a calvary and an enclosing wall. Later additions to the Saint-Herbot chapel include a south porch begun in 1498 and completed about ten years later, a west portal with bell tower begun in 1516, and the extension and vaulting of the adjoining chapel to the south in 1545. Relics of the holy hermit, who was regarded as the protector of herds, were venerated in the Saint-Herbot chapel. A first church in Saint-Herbot was destroyed during the Breton War of Succession (1341–1364).
The Chapelle Saint Eutrope, le Quilliou dates from the 16th century; its south porch dates from 1688. It was a parish church until 1820, when it was incorporated into Plonévez.
The Chapelle Saint-Clair, Quistillic, is a single-nave chapel from the 16th century with a Latin-cross floor plan; it was built of granite, sandstone and slate. It is located on a slope above a spring that emerges further down in a fountain.
