Locmaria-Berrien: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Locmaria-Berrien combines preserved religious architecture with the history of mining. The parish church of Notre-Dame is a 16th-century building featuring granite masonry, an elongated floor plan, and a rounded chancel end. The parish church of Notre-Dame and its cemetery were listed as historic monuments by decree of 1 April 1933.

Culture and History

The Saint-Ambroise Chapel is one of the two historic religious buildings still preserved in Locmaria-Berrien and dates from the 17th century. The town’s mining history is also present: the Maison de la mine presents an exhibition on the mining history of Locmaria-Berrien at the Espace Muséal Minier, potentially complemented by a visit to the former mine site. Lead and silver deposits were already being mined at the Ancienne mine de Locmaria-Berrien in antiquity; in the 18th century, the site was a significant mining area.

The Les deux vallées route follows a 1.4-kilometre voie verte along the former Morlaix–Carhaix railway line. The former extraction site of the Ancienne mine de Locmaria-Berrien is accessible year-round for self-guided visits or guided tours with the museum’s volunteer staff; the route runs along the canal.
