Châteauneuf-Du-Faou: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
In Châteauneuf-du-Faou, you can encounter Paul Sérusier not only in the museum: the murals in the baptistery of Saint-Julien Church are the only decoration by Paul Sérusier still preserved on site and accessible to the public; they were created between 1914 and 1919.
Culture and history
Saint-Julien Church was rebuilt in two construction phases between 1869 and 1878 according to plans by the architect Jules Boyer. It contains murals by Paul Sérusier, created between 1914 and 1918.
The Musée Sérusier presents works by Paul and Marguerite Sérusier, as well as their connections to Châteauneuf-du-Faou. It also offers a permanent exhibition on the art of Marguerite and Paul Sérusier. The town of Châteauneuf-du-Faou also preserves a significant collection of more than 200 works.
The Notre-Dame-des-Portes Chapel was rebuilt in the 19th century and is one of five sanctuaries in Brittany dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is open daily. A Gothic porch from the former chapel has been preserved on site; it was rebuilt on the wall of the former sacristy and has a holy-water stoup on its right pillar. The major Pardon pilgrimage at Notre-Dame-des-Portes Chapel takes place on the third Sunday of every August.
The old Pont du Roy in Penn-ar-Pont dates back to the 17th century.
