La Roche du Feu gives Gouézec a distinctive landscape and historical profile: from the summit, there are views over the Aulne Valley, the Monts d’Arrée and the Bay of Douarnenez. La Roche du Feu, formerly known as Menez Gu, is a mountain in Gouézec with an elevation of 281 metres. During the Viking invasions, it served for a long time as a strategic warning point; signal fires were lit to warn of attacks.

Landscape and Trails

The circular hike to La Roche du Feu is 5.4 kilometres long, takes around two hours and begins near Gouézec Town Hall.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Pierre, together with its calvary and triumphal arch, is classified as a historic monument. The Chapelle Notre-Dame des Trois-Fontaines was classified as a historic monument by decree of 28 March 1927. It houses a statue of Saint Michael listed as protected; the chapel also contains stained-glass windows, including La Transfiguration.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Tréguron dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. It stands in the hamlet of Tréguron, in a placître planted with large trees. Inside are a remarkable depiction of the Virgin Mary as the Nursing Madonna and a statue of Saint Eligius.

Geographical Location

The southern part of Pont-Coblant in Gouézec lies on the left bank of the Nantes–Brest Canal.

Cycling and Terrain

The Gouézec mountain bike park is freely accessible to everyone and includes a pump track area and a trial area for training and improving riding skills. The mountain bike park is the starting point for five routes: one cross-country route and four downhill routes ranging in difficulty from easy to very difficult.
