Poullan-sur-Mer brings history visibly to life: Menhirs and covered megalithic structures in the area of Poullan-sur-Mer have testified to communal life since the Neolithic period.

Culture and History

The covered megalithic structure of Lesconil was erected 4,000 to 4,500 years ago and has a comparatively rare arched shape. The Lesaff menhir is 4.50 metres high and dates from the Neolithic period.

The nave of the Notre-Dame de Kérinec chapel dates from the 13th century and was built by the architect Gunstan. The Saint-Cadoan church in Poullan-sur-Mer mainly dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Saint-They chapel was built in 1766; next to it stands a monumental cross bearing the year 1577.

Poullan-sur-Mer also has several manor houses dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Landscape and Trails

The GR34 coastal hiking trail in Poullan-sur-Mer offers panoramic views over the Bay of Douarnenez. At Pointe de la Jument, there is a rocky coastline with cliffs and coves.

A trail leads from a car park at Pointe de la Jument through the heathland to the coastal path. A small car park provides access to the covered megalithic structure of Lesconil via a short path leading to the wooded area. Kerandreon Bay is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
