Plouyé: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Plouyé reveals its character through tangible evidence: religious buildings, a traditional celebration and designated hiking trails offer different, clearly identifiable points of connection with the town.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Pierre is the central religious building. It was rebuilt between 1862 and 1864 according to plans by the architect Jules BOYER. From the original 17th-century church, it preserves the bell tower, part of the wall and the west portal. Inside, there is a 16th-century Pietà in a niche with double-leaf shutters decorated with twelve Passion scenes in bas-relief. East of the chancel stands an Iron Age stele.

The Chapelle Saint-Mathurin was rebuilt in 1838; its bell tower bears the year 1839. It is accompanied by a calvary and a fountain. The calvary depicts Christ and the two thieves, carved from a single stone.

The Chapelle Saint-Maudez is an elongated, rectangular chapel dating from the 17th century. Its south wall contains a window with flamboyant tracery; the openwork chancel screen and the crucifix were restored in 2001–2002. The Pardon de Saint Maudez is celebrated in Plouyé on the last Sunday in July.

The Chapelle Saint-Salomon is a rectangular 17th-century building with a sacristy on the north side. The inscription above its door bears the year 1660. The calvary has statues arranged in pairs on either side of the crucifix and depicts the Madonna and Child on the reverse.

La Chèvrerie de Plouyé is a cheese producer and goat breeder in Plouyé.

Hiking

The Boucle de Ker ar Park is a 10-kilometre hiking trail with a stated duration of three hours and 170 metres of ascent. It is not marked; a map or GPX track may be helpful for navigation.

Caution is advised on the Circuit des Trois Chapelles at crossings and along sections of departmental roads.
