Goulien: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the northern part of Goulien, the cliffs of Douarnenez Bay line the landscape. There, a relatively featureless plateau exposed to the winds is covered with sparse vegetation, while in the south, hills and valleys with denser vegetation shape the landscape. In spring, among other species, guillemots, fulmars and storm petrels nest along the coast of Goulien in the Réserve du Cap Sizun.

Nature

The Réserve du Cap Sizun has a 3 km-long walking trail with panoramic views of the Iroise Sea. It is open and free to access all year round.

Culture and History

The church of Goulien is dedicated to Saint Goulven and was built in the first half of the 16th century. Today, only the southern portal remains from this period. Three Iron Age funerary steles, listed in the inventory of historic monuments, stand in the churchyard. The Chapelle de Lannourec houses a gilded stone statue of the Virgin Mary dating from the 15th century.

La Maison du Vent uses an interactive presentation to convey the various facets of the wind. It is located in the former school in the centre of Goulien.

The Église Saint-Goulven church is located in the immediate vicinity of Goulien. The surrounding area also includes Plage de Guendrez beach, Église Notre-Dame de Roscudon church, Saint-They church and the island of Tévennec. In the wider region around Goulien are Plage de Penhors beach, Plage du Ris beach and the ruins of Manoir du Coecilian.

Routes

The PR® 11 route leads to Lézoulien through the heathland and on to the GR®34. The Deux Baies VTT 10 loop crosses Cap-Sizun from north to south, from Douarnenez Bay to Audierne Bay.
