Scrignac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Scrignac includes part of the Cragou and Vergam regional nature reserve, which extends over 468 hectares. A hiking trail in the nature reserve makes it possible to explore the area year-round. Alongside the historic buildings, this places a clearly defined landscape with a permanently usable trail at the heart of the area.

Nature and trails

The combination of the nature reserve and hiking trail forms a distinct focal point of Scrignac. The Cragou and Vergam area extends beyond the land within Scrignac; for the municipality, it is recorded that it includes part of this regional nature reserve. The hiking trail, accessible year-round, runs through this very nature reserve and makes it possible to explore it on foot.

Architectural history and religious buildings

One of the notable religious buildings is the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Coat Quéau. The present building was erected in 1937 on the initiative of Abbé Jean-Marie Perrot, based on plans by the architect James Bouillé.

The parish church of Saint-Pierre also combines different construction phases. Of the church probably built at the end of the 15th century, the west building flanked by buttresses, a stair turret and the bell tower have been preserved. The parish church of Saint-Pierre was completely rebuilt in 1866, with the exception of the west building.

In Trénivel, the Chapelle Saint-Corentin is traditionally considered to have been founded by the Cistercians of Relec. The ensemble was restored by an association between 2000 and 2005. It includes a granite fountain washhouse, which completes the architectural context around the chapel.

Cycle route

Scrignac lies on Voie verte no. 7, which connects Roscoff with Concarneau along a disused, converted railway line. The official Voie 7 Bretagne includes a 27 km stage from Scrignac to Carhaix-Plouguer. It passes through the green landscape of Finistère and is characterised along the original railway line by hamlets and former railway stations.

From Gare de Scrignac, Voie verte no. 7 also provides a separate connection to Huelgoat and its legendary forest. Along this section, the former railway line, the railway stations and the connecting paths therefore all stand out as defining elements.
