Plounéventer: Holiday apartments and houses

In Plounéventer, the parish church of Saint-Néventer, the Manoir de Mézarnou and the Château de Brézal represent different traces of history; these are joined by the former Moulin à papier de Brézal and the Circuit de Kerillien.

Culture and history

The parish church of Saint-Néventer in Plounéventer was rebuilt in 1874 according to plans by the architect Olivier. Its southern porch bears the date 1679. The Chapelle Saint-Mélar in Plounéventer also contains a statue of Saint Catherine of Alexandria.

Construction of the Manoir de Mézarnou was completed around 1525. The manor has an enclosed courtyard complex with a stair tower that transitions from an octagonal to a square floor plan. The entire Manoir de Mézarnou, including the courtyard surface, the southern courtyard wall and the basin located within it, was classified as a Monument historique by decree of 9 April 2002.

The Château de Brézal was rebuilt around 1850 by Guillaume Le Roux on the site of an older building. The complex includes a park, a chapel, a dovecote, outbuildings and a pond.

The former Moulin à papier de Brézal is located on a millrace of the Elorn between Pont-Christ and La Roche-Maurice. In 1776, the paper mill produced 3,000 reams of paper there and had a water wheel, a vat and five stamping mills.

Hiking

The Circuit de Kerillien is located in the municipality of Plounéventer; the hike begins at the Chapelle de Locmelar and is signposted with yellow markings.
