The A Travers Champs association offers two organised hikes per week within a 30 km radius. Two organised hikes per week give the offering a recurring rhythm; the 30 km radius also establishes a clear geographical framework.

For these hikes, the association uses the Gouélou car park in Saint-Martin-des-Champs as the meeting point. The Gouélou car park anchors the meeting point directly in Saint-Martin-des-Champs.

Three ability groups at A Travers Champs

A Travers Champs divides the hikes into three ability groups. The classification is based on distance, elevation gain and walking speed. For groups with different paces, these criteria are relevant individually: In addition to the length of a route, ascents and the intended walking pace can also be taken into account in the daily planning. Distance and elevation gain describe different aspects of a hike: A route may be shorter and still have a different elevation profile. The intended walking pace adds the time dimension to both figures. At A Travers Champs, the choice therefore cannot be made based on distance alone.

La Vallée de la Pennélé

The “La Vallée de la Pennélé” hiking loop begins in Saint-Martin-des-Champs. The route passes through the wooded Pennélé Valley and follows a former railway track on the return journey. The change from the wooded valley to the former railway track gives the circular route two different sections. The former railway line appears on the return leg of the loop, while the outward journey leads through the Pennélé Valley.

GR 34® and Vélodyssée

Ostal Morlaix lies on the edge of the GR 34® and immediately close to the Vélodyssée. For cyclists, the Vélodyssée is a separate point of reference, while the GR 34® complements the hiking context. Those wishing to include further route connections in their travel plans in addition to the Pennélé loop can consider these two routes separately. The GR 34® represents the hiking connection, while the Vélodyssée represents the cycling connection.
