Kerlaz: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Church of Saint-Germain in Kerlaz dates from the 16th and 17th centuries; the church and its parish enclosure have been classified as historic monuments since 1916.

Culture and History

A stained-glass window in Saint-Germain depicts Saint Guénolé saving King Gradlon during the flooding of the city of Ys. Visits to the church are possible; the Pays de Douarnenez tourist office can provide further information.

The devotional spring of Coz Castel dates from the 17th century and belonged to a destroyed chapel. The Fontaine Saint Even is also mentioned as a point of interest on a hiking trail in the Pays de Douarnenez.

Coast and Trails

The GR® 34 coastal footpath in Kerlaz offers views of Douarnenez and Douarnenez Bay. Swimming is possible at Trezmalaouen Beach.

Forest and Nature

The Bois du Névet is a 225-hectare forest area with an entrance in Kerlaz. It has an approximately 1-kilometre-long circular trail accessible to everyone. A major bridleway also runs around the forest area.

The Bois du Névet is a forest area acquired as a sensitive natural area and is managed by the National Forestry Office.

Local Production

Biscuiterie Marin-Coathalem has been operating since 1960 and is based in Kerlaz in the Pays de Douarnenez. It makes kouign-amann using traditional methods.
