Ergué-Gabéric: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Stangala extends partly across Ergué-Gabéric, Quimper and Briec and covers a total of 90 hectares. Since 6 July 1929, it has been classified as a site and natural monument of artistic character. Protected species are found in Stangala, including the royal fern and the Quimper snail.
Paths and Circular Walks
Ergué-Gabéric has three blue-marked circular walking routes ranging from 1.4 to 9 kilometres in length. Around the town centre, “Le tour du bourg de pierres en arbres” covers approximately 6.2 kilometres.
“Autour de Lestonan” is a 13.5-kilometre route of moderate difficulty with a stated duration of 3 hours 30 minutes. The “Balade à Kerdévot” is 3.5 kilometres long, has a very low level of difficulty and a stated duration of 1 hour 15 minutes.
The GR38 long-distance hiking trail passes through Stangala and Stang Luzigou and runs from Douarnenez to Redon. In Stang Luzigou, “Sentiers d’interprétation” is a 2.7-kilometre route.
Landscape and Nature
The Kerho arboretum in Lestonan contains 48 forest and ornamental plant species along an 8-hectare botanical trail, as well as the “Sentier des demoiselles”.
A former quarry offers visitors a walking path and a viewpoint above the reservoir. The viewpoint can be reached via a path developed for everyone.
The paths, footbridges, facilities and signage at Stangala are maintained in partnership with the municipalities.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Guinal, also known as Saint-Gwenaël, was built largely in the 16th century. The old cemetery of the Church of Saint-Guinal preserves a 17th-century ossuary, which opens through arcades onto the enclosed churchyard. The church, cemetery and ossuary were classified as historic monuments by decree of 23 October 1939.
The Chapel of Kerdévot dates from the 15th century. It includes a monumental 16th-century Calvary monument and also houses a Flemish altarpiece.
The Manoir de Lezergué is listed as a historic monument. In 1822, a paper mill was established, which became the Odet paper manufactory under the influence of the Bolloré family.
