Lanildut: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lanildut stretches along the Aber Ildut, which is considered the smallest of the abers in Finistère, named after the municipality. The water shapes the town just as much as its maritime history and the named islands, beaches and cultural sites in the surrounding area.

Geographical Location

The island of Île Melon lies in the immediate vicinity of Lanildut. The surrounding area of Lanildut also includes Plage des Blancs Sablons beach and the islands of Île Ségal and Île d’Iock.

Phine La Passeuse crosses the Aber Ildut between Lanildut and Lampaul-Plouarzel in five to ten minutes. From Lanildut harbour, crossings to the islands of Molène and Ouessant are available from May to September with the company Finist’mer.

Maritime Heritage

La Maison-feu is a former onshore lighthouse at the entrance to Lanildut harbour and forms part of the municipality’s maritime architectural heritage. It was built in 1897 to make it easier for the numerous cargo barges and other coastal vessels of the time to enter the harbour.

The Rumorvan district is rich in houses belonging to merchant captains and so-called “masters of boats” from the 17th and 18th centuries. A coastal battery was built at the mouth of the Aber Ildut between 1740 and 1748.

Culture

The Maison de l’Algue in Lanildut is an interpretation centre that presents the diverse uses of algae from Molène. It offers both cooking workshops featuring dulse and sea lettuce and an outdoor visit with a kombu infusion at historic algae ovens and coastal shelters.

The Église Saint-Rivoaré church is located in the vicinity of Lanildut. The Chapelle Notre-Dame chapel is also nearby. In the wider regional area around Lanildut are Château de Brest and Abbaye Saint-Mathieu de Fine-Terre.
