Edern: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The “Les crêtes de Menez Edern” hiking trail runs along the southern slope of the Montagnes Noires at the elevations of Menez Hellen, a site considered to be classified. It leads hikers to two chapels.

Culture

The Église Saint Edern was founded in 1554 and partially rebuilt in 1887–1888. The older tower, the chancel and the sacristy were preserved. Edern is also home to the monumental Calvaire de Saint-Maudez from the 15th century. It is the only surviving relic of a former abbey; the central cross with Christ has been preserved intact.

The Chapelle Saint-Jean-Botlan has been listed as a historic monument since 1976.

Landscape

The Chapelle Saint-Jean-Botlan offers a panoramic view of the mountain landscape. The peaks of Karreg an Tan and Roc'h an Aotrou are located in the surrounding area of Edern.

Cycling

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Lannien is located along a cycling loop; inside, large information panels explain its special features. A public spring is located near the Chapelle Notre-Dame du Niver.

Region

In the wider region around Edern are the Château de Trévarez and the Château de Bodinio as castles, the Musée des Beaux-Arts as a museum, and the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Kerlot (Quimper) as a historic site. The same wider area also includes Menez an Dug as a peak and Plage du Ris as a beach.
