Beg Meil: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Beg-Meil showcases its coastal landscape in the coves, with opportunities to swim in clear water; kayaking is also possible there. In summer, the Cale de Beg-Meil serves as a starting point for boat trips to the Glénan Archipelago. In the same location, visitors can observe the maritime activity and the fishermen.

Trails and Landscape

The “Les criques de Beg-Meil” route is an easy 10.2 km hiking trail lasting three hours, starting in Fouesnant. It continues towards Kerambigorn Beach. Fouesnant also offers 30 detailed hiking routes in a guide available from the tourist office.

The “Beg-Meil côté campagne” tour leads to the Pointe de Beg-Meil.

Culture and History

Historical traces include the Menhir de Beg-Meil, which is protected as a historic monument; it was classified by decree on 26 April 1930. The menhir dates from the Neolithic period. Villas from the Belle Époque can also still be seen in Beg-Meil, testifying to the area’s development at the time into a popular holiday resort.

The painter Thomas Alexander Harrison also visited Beg-Meil regularly. The Saint-Guénolé Chapel is associated with the Pardon de Saint-Guénolé and the subsequent blessing of the sea. It was built in 1936.

Market and Local Life

The traditional Beg-Meil market takes place on Wednesdays in July and August at the Place de l’Église. At the summer market, local producers and craftspeople offer their products close to the sea.
