Culture and History
The Chapelle Saint-Sébastien in Fréhel was built in 1536 by a mason named Cozic. It is a single-nave chapel in the Gothic style and was added to the supplementary inventory of historic monuments on 25 February 1928.
The Chapelle du Vieux-Bourg stands on Pointe aux Chèvres, 45 metres above sea level, opposite Cap Fréhel, and has a history spanning more than 800 years. It is used for church services, weddings and concerts.
The Église Saint-Hilaire was built from 1856 to 1870 to replace the church of Pléhérel-Plage. It has one of the rare Art Deco stained-glass windows installed before the Second World War.
Local Areas
Sables-d'Or-les-Pins is one of three settlement and visitor areas in the municipality of Fréhel; the other two are the town centre and the Vieux Bourg of Pléhérel-Plage. During walks, cycling tours or rides in a Rosalie through Sables-d'Or-les-Pins, visitors can discover Art Deco villas and the Vallée de Diane. This small forest is also home to an open-air theatre.
