Plestin-Les-Grèves: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Plestin-Les-Grèves combines distinctive coastal landscapes with traces of Gallo-Roman and medieval history. This character is particularly striking at the Grand Rocher and around the historic chapels and remains in the surrounding area.

Nature and Coastal Landscape

The Grand Rocher is a 60-hectare nature and archaeological site. Its 84-metre-high rocky promontory offers a 180° panorama over Saint-Efflam Bay. A cave at the Grand Rocher provides shelter for bats.

The estuary of the Douron between Pont Menou and the Cornic bridge also features a varied landscape of cliffs, wooded areas, wet meadows, mudflats and salt marshes.

Beach and Water

Saint-Efflam Beach is suitable for land sailing and other water sports. At Port de Beg Douar, there are two slipways, each three metres wide. They can each be used two hours before and after high tide.

Culture and History

Coz Ilis is an ancient Gallo-Roman temple that was restored in 2015; it can be reached on foot from Launaye. The Chapelle Saint Jagut is the surviving remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery. In 1498, it was rebuilt by the workshop of Étienne de Beaumanoir and restored several times.

Other historical evidence includes the Thermes gallo-romains du Hogolo, Gallo-Roman remains on the Corniche de l’Armorique in Plestin-les-Grèves. They offer a beautiful view of Locquirec Bay, where the Douron flows into the sea. The Chapelle Saint-Efflam was built in 1883 on the site of an older chapel.

Chapel Trail

The Circuit des Chapelles follows signposted paths from one chapel to the next, passing manor houses and fountains along the way. Its summer programme includes exhibitions and concerts.
