Trédaniel: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Trédaniel is characterised by historic buildings, traditional paths and the protected Bel-Air area. Between chapels, churches, a watermill and routes through varied landscapes, different historical and geographical aspects come together.

Culture and history

The Moulin à farine du Pré in Trédaniel was built in 1811. In 1884, the mill was powered by two vertical water wheels. Another historic attraction is the Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Haut. It may date back to the 14th century. In addition to the Virgin Mary, seven saints associated with beliefs about healing are venerated in the chapel. When leaving the chapel, the Fontaine Notre-Dame-du-Haut is signposted to the left.

The Saint-Pierre church in Trédaniel also bears traces of a long building history: it features numerous structural changes dating from the period between the 14th and 19th centuries. The nave contains an 18th-century tabernacle.

Landscape

The Bel-Air area is located in the municipalities of Trébry and Trédaniel. It is a protected area extending across Trédaniel and Trébry, and was classified on 3 February 1960.

The “Sur le toit des Côtes d’Armor” route runs along the watershed between the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. It offers views of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc to the north and the Mené forest to the south. The route also identifies the covered passage graves recorded in Trédaniel as evidence of a Celtic presence at Bel-Air.

Paths and connections

The historic Chemin de l’Ecce Homo ran between Moncontour and Trédaniel. The “Moncontour, Cité Forteresse” circular route connects Moncontour, Trédaniel and Trébry, passing chapels and ponds as well as woodland and valleys.
