Coatascorn: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Coatascorn combines religious and everyday history with paths through the Poulloguer Valley. Between the church, stone crosses, mills and the paths along the Étang du Poulloguer, a multifaceted picture of the place emerges.

Culture and history

The parish church of Saint-Maudez was rebuilt in 1885–1886 according to plans by the diocesan architect Ernest Le Guerrannic. It has a neo-Gothic single-nave layout and a Beaumanoir-type bell structure.

The Garnel mission cross is a Hernot cross made of granite, featuring a sculpted Christ and an INRI scroll. The wayside cross of Kernévez depicts Christ on the cross in relief and, on the reverse, a Madonna and Child.

The wayside cross of Harz probably dates from the first half of the 17th century. Its crowning cross bears Christ on the cross rendered as a low relief. The cemetery cross in Coatascorn was erected in 1877 and is a granite Hernot-type cross.

The Brélantec watermill in Coatascorn is dated 1871. The old mill in the Poulloguer Valley retains its mill wheel and water supply; until the beginning of the 20th century, it was used for scutching flax.

Nature and trails

The Circuit de la Vallée du Poulloguer circular trail passes through Coatascorn and then returns to the Étang du Poulloguer. There is also an approximately 1.5 km-long themed trail at the Étang du Poulloguer.

Wildlife and terrain

Les Animaux du Bois is an educational farm that combines nature and animals. Visitors can explore its 12-hectare grounds on foot. An approximately 2 km-long trail leads from one animal enclosure to the next through the forest.

The Jaudy Valley can be reached via the D8 between Guingamp and La Roche-Jaudy.
