Discover Střílky – holiday apartment between Baroque culture and a nature trail

Střílky combines Baroque cultural history with nature and hiking trails. Culture

The Baroque history includes the Baroque cemetery in Střílky. It is open to the public daily except Mondays from May 1 to September 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex was built by Antonín Amand Petřvaldský z Petřvaldu, the former owner of the Střílky and Tovačov estates, between 1730 and 1743. As a cemetery, it is considered one of the important Baroque architectural monuments.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Střílky is also open from May 1. Inside, it preserves an original organ from 1771, created by organ builder František Sieber. There are also two valuable paintings by the painter and Jesuit Ignác Raab from Velehrad. The church thus brings together sacred architecture, historic instrument making and painting.

The older history of the town includes the ruins of Střílecký hrad Castle. They are the remains of an Early Gothic castle built in the second half of the 13th century. Zámek Střílky Chateau can be visited by prior telephone appointment at 573 375 113. Unless an international workshop is taking place, the park and chateau courtyard are accessible with a guided tour.

Nature and trails

The marked “Nature and Surroundings of Střílky” nature trail has eleven stations and is approximately 6.5 kilometres long. The nature trail around Střílky also describes a water spring emerging from the rock and Flysch sandstone formations. One object described there is designated as a protected natural monument. The individual stations thus combine a specific trail length with natural history and landscape themes.

Another route is called “Adventurous Chřiby from Střílky to Komárec” and is approximately 6 to 8 kilometres long. The two routes have independent names and are given with approximate lengths.

Getting there

Střílky has a stop with six bus connections to Brno, Kyjov, Kroměříž, Uherské Hradiště, Morkovice and Zlín. The town is therefore connected via several named destinations in different directions, complementing its cultural and landscape points of interest with a practical transport link.
