Roštění is one of the old settlements and was first mentioned as early as 1141 in a document issued by Olomouc Bishop Jindřich Zdík. The village’s most important landmark is the Roman Catholic Church of St. Florian, which was consecrated in 1933.

History and Church

The sacred building is a Functionalist structure with a semicircular apse. Inside, a hand-painted coffered ceiling with 60 colorful panels stands out. The altar also houses a reliquary containing the relics of Saint Urban and Jan Sarkander. The church in Roštění thus combines architectural history, religious furnishings and a distinctive village landmark in a single building.

One of the smaller protected historic features is Poklona, a listed wayside niche chapel in the southeast of Roštění. Its heritage register number is 20856/7-6122. The memorial tree “Lípa u Poklony” is also located in Roštění.

Festivals and Local Traditions

The traditional Hody festival takes place in May on the feast day of Saint Florian. During the Hody celebrations on May 3, 2026, a procession accompanied by the Sebraňáci brass band made its way from the fire station to the local church dedicated to Saint Florian. Afterwards, a festive lunch and social gathering were held at the local Roštěnka pub.

Stavění is a traditional event in Roštění. The traditional fruit brandy tasting is also held at the fire station. Thus, in addition to the church festival, other local customs and social occasions are part of the village calendar.

Trails and Outdoor Activities

The 75-kilometer-long horseback riding route “Along the Coachmen’s Trails Across Moštěnka and the Hříběcí Mountains” operated by MAS Partnerství Moštěnka passes through Roštění. Roštění is also well connected to cycle paths. The village has a multi-purpose sports field with artificial turf, offering opportunities for sporting activities.

Surroundings

In the vicinity of Roštění, Kostelecký les is a popular destination for mushroom pickers. In nearby Rymice stands a windmill that is worth visiting.

If you are considering a holiday apartment in Roštění, you can compare the exact location, type of accommodation and possible occupancy on the relevant listing page before booking. Also check there which services are included, how the price components are structured and which booking or cancellation conditions apply. For comparison, you can read the information according to a fixed but concise pattern: Start with the exact location and type of accommodation, then check the possible occupancy and included services. It is then worth looking at the individual price components so that the base price and any additional costs are not confused. The booking and cancellation conditions are equally important, including the deadlines and costs stated there. If several listings mention the same local references, you should consider the respective pages separately and not automatically attribute a feature of Roštění to any particular listing. The decisive information remains the fields actually shown for the individual listing.
