Holiday apartment in Lubná: Chřiby, trails and history

Lubná lies on the edge of the Chřiby Hills, formerly known as Hříběcí hory. Both names already indicate the area's geographical setting and the older name for this place in the Czech Republic.

Nature and trails

The Stezky severními Chřiby trail network includes information boards with trail maps, tourist signposts, benches and panoramic boards at viewpoints. The trails are primarily intended for hiking. Most routes can also be used by mountain bike and are also suitable for running and Nordic walking. The network therefore combines several explicitly named forms of travel, from a leisurely hike to more athletic use by bicycle or on foot.

When considering the route information, it is also worth distinguishing between the character of the network and the use of individual trails. Stezky severními Chřiby is described as having facilities that support orientation and short breaks: maps, signposts, benches and panoramic boards are explicitly included. The reference to mountain biking is also limited: most routes can be ridden, not every route without exception. Hiking remains the primary stated purpose; running and Nordic walking are additionally listed as suitable activities.

Culture and local history

The chapel with its bell tower stands on the road running through the village. It is estimated to be around 240 years old. May devotions are held in the chapel in May. The history of the small building also includes its original bell: it was hidden and later found in a depot for confiscated bells.

Traditions and events

Lubná hosts Lubenský pedál; the 2026 edition was the third edition of a children's cycling race. Lubná also holds its traditional cooking of goulash in a kettle. The 2026 edition was the eleventh edition of this event. The two dates represent different aspects of local event life and should not be reduced to the same occasion.

History

The Tabarky burial ground, dating from the 9th century, lies near Lubná. It bears witness to a very old Slavic settlement and adds an archaeological dimension in the surrounding area to the history of the village.
