Culture

Among the sacred landmarks is the chapel of the Šinkyřík family on the road to Pacetluky. The Baroque building was erected in 1885 and is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. On 27 November 1963, the chapel was entered in the state register of immovable cultural monuments. In the past, the inhabitants of Bořenovice would set out from this Marian chapel in prayer for the pilgrimage site of Svatý Hostýn.

Another small roadside shrine is the Kaplička pod lípou – Boží muka. It stands beneath a broad-crowned lime tree on the road between Holešov and Bořenovice, closer to Bořenovice, and was probably built in the mid-18th century. On the same road, but closer to Holešov, there is a chapel that was built around 1874.

The village’s memorials also have specific historical connections. The cross monument to the soldiers who fell in the First World War stands at the entrance to the village when arriving from Holešov. It commemorates seven fallen soldiers from Bořenovice in the First World War and was erected on 1 September 1922. The stone statue of Panna Maria Svatohostýnská stands on the right at the exit towards Pacetluky. It was created in 1946 to commemorate the end of the Second World War and as a gesture of thanks that Bořenovice suffered no loss of life in that war.

The Bořenovská bell tower was declared a cultural monument in 2010. It probably dates from the reign of Maria Theresa; historically, it served both as a warning signal and as a call to prayer. Today, it is one of the oldest surviving municipal bell towers in the Zlín Region.

History

The history of windmills in Bořenovice includes two different traditions. The former Bořenovský windmill was built in Bořenovice in 1795 and stood east of the village until 1976. The Rymice Open-Air Museum is home to a wooden windmill of the German type, transferred there from nearby Bořenovice.

A dated entry in the local calendar is the Bořenovský košt, which was scheduled for Friday, 20 March 2026.

Routes

For cyclists, a paved farm track runs from Pacetluky through Bořenovice to Holešov. There, they can join regional cycle route 5033. In addition, a microregional cycling circuit passes through Holešov, Bořenovice, Pacetluky, Karlovice, Kostelec u Hol., Roštění and Rymice.
