Holiday apartment in Kyselovice – Church, Traditions and Nature Experiences

At the 2025 Vepřové hody in Kyselovice, traditional butcher’s products were sold, soup was served and meals were provided; there was also a tasting of butcher’s specialities. One of the special experiences is Medvědí stezkou, a traditional nature competition for children. The route runs along dirt roads, forest paths and through densely wooded terrain. The programme includes practical outdoor tasks, including knot tying, map-based navigation and building fire pits.

Culture

The appearance of the village is shaped by crosses, statues and the Church of sv. Andělů Strážných. The oldest of the four crosses in Kyselovice is a Baroque cross dating from 1769. Another cross, dating from 1894, stands outside Kyselovice on the road towards Chropyně. The cemetery cross is made of Carrara marble and probably dates from around 1900.

The Baroque sculptures also represent different historical periods. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Kyselovice dates from the second quarter of the 18th century and stands opposite the former school in the middle of the village green. The Baroque statue of Saint Vendelín dates from 1769 and stands at a crossroads of major roads. There is also a marble cross from 1906 by the Church of sv. Andělů Strážných.

The Church of sv. Andělů Strážných was built in the Neo-Gothic style between 1904 and 1906. Its unusual north–south orientation is one of its distinctive features, as is the 37-metre-high tower at the entrance. At Christmas, church fairs and the Feast of Corpus Christi, the choir of Občanská beseda Kyselovice performs in the church gallery.

Nature and Activities

Kyselovice’s sporting life includes various formats. The mixed-doubles tennis tournament has been a firmly established tradition since 2005; both tennis courts were used for this tournament. The traditional Sportovní odpoledne took place on the sports field. Its main programme item is a Bränball tournament for mixed teams.

At Kyselovská tretra 2026, there were not only short-distance races but also an endurance run. The programme was complemented by throwing competitions using grenades and tennis balls. Another event on the calendar was the “O Zlatou proudnici Hané” competition: on 26 April 2025, the 20th edition took place in Kyselovice, organised by Sbor dobrovolných hasičů Kyselovice. The competition includes a relay race for teams of two.
