Zárubice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zárubice showcases a characteristic combination of a village green, traditional architecture, a landscape of ponds and cycling paths within a compact area, including the signposted long-distance cycle route 401. Numerous tangible traces of history and community life can be found between the village and the paths through the surrounding area.

Village and History

The small bell tower stands amid Zárubice’s preserved, picturesque village green and was built in 1846. The historic village also includes traditional houses, which were typically decorated with raised façade ornaments in the form of small squares above windows and gates.

The memorial to the victims of the First World War in Zárubice was erected in 1929. In the foreground stands a statue of a weeping woman. Zárubice’s former school building was also built in 1898; part of the building was used as an inn and cultural hall.

Landscape of Ponds

Behind Zárubice, on the road towards Hrotovice, lies Klárka Pond, which is usually called Zárubický Pond or “Podevsí”. It covers 5.2 hectares and is one of the largest ponds in the Třebíč District. Zárubický Pond is used for recreational purposes.

A structured littoral zone was created at the far end of Zárubický Pond to promote the development of wetland plants and animals.

Cycling and Walking Excursions

The signposted long-distance cycle route 401 runs through Zárubice. Local cycling routes in the surrounding forests connect to this cycle route. “The Farmer’s Trail from Hrotovice to Jaroměřice” is a cycling tour that passes through Zárubice; its route runs through Odunec and Zárubice to the Na Skalným forest complex.

Since 2006, excursions have also been held under the auspices of Toulavé kolo as part of the so-called Bláznivý týden. As early as spring 2004, Toulavé kolo began exploring the surrounding area on cycling excursions, including the vanished medieval settlement of Mstěnice near Hrotovice.

At the beginning of the holidays, sports and social events for children and adults are regularly held in Zárubice. The Zárubičtí chodci group decided to organize walking excursions in the surrounding area, following the example of Toulavé kolo.
