Náměšť nad Oslavou combines a significant Renaissance monument with the river landscape of the Oslava and protected natural areas within the town. Náměšť nad Oslavou Castle was built on a rocky massif on the left bank of the Oslava and is considered an important example of Renaissance architecture in Moravia.

Culture and History

The castle grounds include an English park and a small French garden. Numerous old and rare trees characterize the grounds, while the view extends over Náměšť and the surrounding landscape. Another historic landmark is the Baroque bridge over the Oslava near Náměšť nad Oslavou, built in 1737.

The Church of Saint John the Baptist in Náměšť nad Oslavou is an early Baroque church with sculptures by Adolf Loos. The Baroque deanery church of Saint John the Baptist was built in 1639 by Count Jan Baptist von Werdenberg. The gallery in the Old Town Hall regularly holds exhibitions by individual artists in the historic rooms of the former Renaissance town hall. The hiking route through the Oslava Valley begins in Náměšť nad Oslavou. From the railway station, a red trail marker follows the left bank of the river. The rocky section of the route through the Oslava Valley is impassable when water levels are high.
