Benetice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Benetice is defined by the Church of St. Mark, which is considered the village’s most important landmark. The present-day church was built between 1853 and 1859 and consecrated on October 16, 1859.

History and Tradition

The history of Benetice dates back at least to the first half of the 13th century: at that time, the village was founded as a colonization settlement and belonged to the Třebíč Benedictine monastery. The historic villagescape also includes the rectory, a building erected around 1760 for the former church. Benetice is also associated with the local legend “The Fulfilled Dream.”

Landscape

Benetice lies on the slope of a narrow valley that descends southward into the catchment area of the Klapůvka stream. The landscape also features scattered granite syenite rock outcrops and block formations.

In the vicinity of Benetice, the age of the protected sycamore maple “Velký Javor” is estimated at 650 to 700 years. The tree stands at the edge of the forest, about 300 metres beyond the settlement of Věstoňovice, also in the vicinity of Benetice.

Paths and Nature

The deep forests around Benetice are crisscrossed by hiking trails. From Věstoňovice, a district of Benetice, marked hiking trails continue on foot or by mountain bike towards Čechtín or Vartenberk. The surroundings of Benetice also offer opportunities for cycling tourism.

The landscape around Benetice is also suitable for mushroom picking.
