Čechočovice lies on the northern slope of Zadní hora and stretches towards the valley of the Stařečský potok stream. The Markvartický potok stream flows through the village.

History of the village

Čechočovice may have been established around the year 1300. The first written record dates from 1358 and is found in the Brno land registers. In the 14th and 15th centuries, Čechočovice was an independent estate and the seat of the local vladyk noble family of the Lords of Čechočovice.

Čechočovice Fortress was incorporated into the Brtnice estate in 1499. It was no longer used as a residence after that and gradually fell into disrepair. Čechočovice Fortress is not accessible.

Hiking and cycling

The Třebíčský Circuit (Cesta Václava Vlastníka) is a 49.5-kilometre hiking trail marked with yellow tourist signs. Čechočovice is one of the places mentioned along this trail. In connection with the Třebíčský Circuit, Čechočovice is listed as a bus stop.

The “Mařenka Lookout Tower – shorter circuit” cycling route also passes through Stařeč, Čechočovice, Markvartice and Chlístov. After the railway crossing, this cycling route joins cycle route 5212 towards Stařeč.
