Stařeč: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The late Baroque vicarage in Stařeč is a building with a mansard roof, a vaulted gate and an enclosed front garden. It has original doors, Baroque wrought-iron grilles, a historic cross with a wooden corpus and parts of the original furnishings. The authentic interior includes tiled stoves, floors and stucco decoration; the building is protected as a historic monument.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint James the Elder in Stařeč was originally late Romanesque and was rebuilt in the Baroque style from 1734 to 1754. It is protected as a cultural monument. There is also a restored chapel in the forest above Stařeč railway station.

The churches of Svatý Marek and Svatá Markéta are located in the vicinity of Stařeč. In the wider regional area are the Rabštejn ruins and Roštejn Castle [Doupě] castle outlook t.

The Sander family is also part of the local history. They moved to Stařeč before 1910; all members of the family died in a concentration camp. House U Sanderů No. 62 has a turbulent history and now houses a health centre as well as the U Sandrů confectionery.

Landscape

Several mountains are located in the immediate vicinity of Stařeč: Pekelný kopec, Zadní hora (GSM trans.), Mikulovická hora and Sadek.

Activities

The RC race track of RC Autoklub Stařeč is located at Pikharta 562 in Stařeč. It is a fully unpaved off-road RC track. The Czech Championship for RC buggy models took place in Stařeč on 15 and 16 June 2024.

The traditional Pohádková cesta in Stařeč is a children’s event. At Pohádková cesta 2026, children could take part in games and other entertaining activities. Pohádková cesta also featured competitions, face painting and a bouncy castle.

The cycling tour “Route No. 2: To Sádek Castle” leads from Mastník via Stařeč to Kracovice.
