Sedlec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sedlecký hrad is situated on a high rocky promontory in a bend of the Oslava River. The ruins are freely accessible.

Nature

The Údolí Oslavy a Chvojnice nature reserve is a deep valley of the meandering Oslava, bordered by steep slopes and rocks. Oak and pine forests, as well as remnants of floodplain meadows, characterise the landscape. The Údolí Oslavy a Chvojnice site of community importance also includes the cadastral area of Sedlec u Náměště nad Oslavou.

History

In the last quarter of the 14th century, Sedlecký hrad served to guard the borders of Třebíč Monastery. The three crosses currently located on Sedlecký hrad date from 2003.

Paths

The path to Sedlecký hrad runs along a steep slope that descends into the romantic valley of the Divoká Oslava. It is suitable for pedestrians and very fit cyclists who are not deterred by steep slopes.

A hike near Gloriet u Sedlece is approximately seven kilometres long.

Culture

The Chapel of St Anne, dating from 1889, stands in Sedlec village square. Gloriet u Náměště nad Oslavou is a hunting pavilion built in 1830 and a cultural monument.

The Posádkové muzeum Sedlec, Vícenice is located in the grounds of the 22nd Helicopter Base at Náměšť nad Oslavou Airport. The exhibitions of the Posádkové muzeum Sedlec, Vícenice can be visited by prior arrangement as part of organised excursions or during open-door events.
