Ostašov opens out in several directions: From the “Lipník side”, there is a panoramic view of Lipník and the more distant Moravské Budějovice. From the opposite “Petrov side”, the view extends over wooded hills and Sádek Castle.
Landscape
In very favourable weather, the peaks of the Alps can also be seen in the distance from Ostašov. In suitable weather, the distinctive Alpine peaks Schneeberg and Ötscher can be seen from the meadows known as “Alpská vyhlídka”.
Nature
In the vicinity of Ostašov, Klučovský kopec is home to a protected area where the meadow pasque flower grows. The protected site at Klučovský kopec was designated in 1982. There are several ponds in the area around Ostašov. The nearby Horák Pond is home to numerous species of waterfowl.
Cycle Routes
Cycle Route 3 runs from Lipník via Ostašov and Petrůvky. Cycle Route 6 leads from Petrůvky via Ostašov to Klučovská hora and onwards to Střítež; it also runs from Ostašov along a field path to Horák Pond.
Local Production
At the Domácí Dobroty shop in Ostašov, visitors can sample the products offered there and see the fruit-drying room as well as the surroundings where the products are made.
History and Events
Ostašov was founded in 1716 by František Karel Josef, a baron of Ostešov. The Společnost ostašovských výletníků is associated with fairs, excursions and various events. On 23 February 2013, the event “Ostašovská pálenka a pomazánka” took place in Ostašov. From 1 to 3 August 2014, the event “II. Ostašovský oheň” took place in Ostašov.
