Nature

The Suché skály Nature Reserve in the municipal and cadastral territory of Kostníky protects natural forest communities with relict pines as well as scree and rocky vegetation. Rare and endangered plants and animals occur in this area, particularly the critically endangered Moravian pink (Dianthus moravicus).

Culture and Local History

The only historic access to Kostníky is known as “Brána”. The village square is home to a modern bell tower with a bell bearing the year 1662.

East of Kostníky, on the road to Vysočany, stands a small rectangular niche chapel of the Classicalist type. On the road to Kdousov there is a wayside shrine from the 17th century, and on the road to Police a wayside shrine from the early 18th century.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is an early Baroque church dating from 1696. It stands in Hájek on a wooded ridge at the southern edge of Kostníky.

In the Surroundings

The Schloßberg ruins and the Špičák, Modrácký kopec and Síbeňák mountains are located around Kostníky. The White Martyr wayside shrine is also situated nearby.

The wider regional surroundings of Kostníky include Svatý Vít mountain and the castles of Karlslust and Wildberg.

East of Kostníky, in an isolated settlement, lies the “Rajmundský mlýn” mill, an old mill with a sawmill on the Bihanka below a small reservoir.

Traditions and Routes

The Kostnický košt was held in numbered editions from 2013 to 2026; the editions of the Kostnický košt slivovice date from 2013 to 2024.

The “Od Bihanky k Želetavce” route follows a wide paved farm track to the edge of Kostníky.
