Nature

The Blatná hráz Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of the municipality of Cidlina. It covers 4.46 ha and was designated in 2002. Blatná hráz comprises a floodplain meadow along the naturally meandering Šebkovický potok, with remnants of alder stands growing alongside the stream.

The forests around Cidlina offer opportunities for mushroom picking; species mentioned include porcini mushrooms, chanterelles and boletes.

Local History

A monument to the victims of the 1914–1918 World War, dating from 1932, stands on Cidlina’s village green; there is also a wooden bell tower there.

The early settlement of Cidlina consisted of fewer than ten farmsteads arranged around an oval village green that ran lengthwise along the course of the Cidlinský potok.

The settlement area of Cidlina was historically influenced by the Haberská stezka, which historians say connected the Znojemsko region with Polabí as early as prehistoric times.

A brick chapel is located at house no. 40 on the road to Bitovánky.

Culture and Traditions

Honey Day is one of the traditional annual events held in Cidlina. The market at Honey Day 2019 offered bee products, honey specialties, candles, honey gingerbread and other local products.

Zahrada Cidlina includes a pavilion, benches with tables, bicycle racks and an information board with a map. The Zahrada Cidlina leisure and relaxation area in the centre of Cidlina was scheduled to be ceremonially opened to the public on 11 June 2016.

Geographical Location

Road II/410 Třebíč–Jemnice–Hluboká–state border runs through the cadastral area of Cidlina. Bus connections link Cidlina with the surrounding area.
