Budišov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Budišov, medieval history, castle culture and actual route connections are closely linked. Budišov Castle stands on the site of a medieval water castle.

Culture and history

On the Zámecký okruh sightseeing route, visitors can explore previously inaccessible areas such as the Antický and Rybářský Salons, the newly restored Chapel of Saint Anne and the Sala terrena. The restored chapel at Budišov Castle was opened to the public in 2021. The castle chapel is noteworthy for its extensive High Baroque furnishings from the 18th century.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Gotthard dates from the 12th century and preserves two Romanesque windows.

The zoological depot at Budišov Castle is open to visitors. The section open to the public displays the oldest collections of stuffed birds, mammals, fish and amphibians, as well as trophies from hunting expeditions to Africa, Asia and Canada.

Nature and routes

Budišov Castle Park includes four ponds and is partly designed in the French style.

A blue-marked hiking trail passes through Budišov and connects Třebíč with Velká Bíteš. For cyclists, Route 5206 runs through Budišov and continues via Kundelov, Studnice and Oslava.

Events and transport

The annual Výroční trh, also known as the Spring Pilgrimage, takes place on Palm Sunday. A pilgrimage takes place at the parish church in Budišov on the Sunday around the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on 15 August.

Budišov station is located on railway line 252 between Studenec, Kojatín, Rudíkov and Křižanov. Free parking is available at Budišov Castle: a small car park in front of the castle and a larger car park behind the nursery next to the castle park.
