Romanesque sacred architecture and village history

The Church of St Mark is a Romanesque church from the early 13th century and is one of the oldest surviving monuments of medieval sacred architecture. The single-nave sacred building, facing east, has an altar that also faces east. Its complex includes a cemetery surrounded by a rubble-stone wall, a wrought-iron double-leaf entrance gate and a mortuary chapel built into the north-western corner of the enclosing wall. The Baroque chapel with a mortuary chapel next to the church in the cemetery is a cultural monument; Lukáš Georg Cyprianus, a manorial official from Sádek, had it built in 1648.

On the village square there is a bell tower regarded as an example of folk architecture from the mid-19th century. The historic “Libuše” well in front of the municipal office is associated with the legend that Princess Libuše watered her horse there. At the entrance to Střítež, a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1737 stands among lime trees.

Route 1 offers swimming opportunities in the Markovka Reservoir and in Lesní rybník at the foot of the wooded Klučovská hora massif. For a weather-independent sporting activity, the covered Třebíč-Střítež badminton hall has four courts.

On the road from Střítež to Třebíč, on the right-hand side about halfway along the route, there is a stone cross erected by the municipality of Střítež in 1876.
