Kojatice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kojatice features the undulating relief of the Hercynian hill country. Velký Újezd, a district of Kojatice, is home to a significant cultural landmark. The Velký Újezd ensemble is architecturally and urbanistically valuable and has a strong local identity.

The regional system of ecological stability in Kojatice includes the U181 biocorridor “RBK Blata–Habrová”, designated as “Seč 95”.

Culture and History

The vicarage in Velký Újezd is a protected cultural monument. It is mentioned as early as 1377.

The Church of St Peter and Paul in Velký Újezd was built between 1859 and 1861 in a historicist style and is a parish church with regular services.

Small chapels and wayside shrines along old access roads complement the Velký Újezd ensemble. A cross stone has been preserved in the cemetery next to the church; it is considered the only surviving remnant of a monastery that disappeared near Smilov or on Smilovský kopec.

The chapel on the wooded hill northeast of Kojatice has shallow façade niches, semicircular vaulted niches on the upper floor, and a Veraikon relief on the front. The chapel located north of Kojatice on a field path has a vaulted entrance and a raised gable with a Veraikon relief. The chapel on the road north of Velký Újezd is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic dating from the 19th century. A chapel is located in the forest north of Velký Újezd.

Paths and Connections

A marked blue hiking trail from Bítov to Moravské Budějovice runs through Velký Újezd. Road III/15221 connects Třebelovice, Velký Újezd, and Hornice. Most of the transport connections to the Kojatice district can be accessed via road III/41110.
