The Markovka stream flows through Kožichovice. The village therefore combines a clear connection to water with a protected natural area and a multifaceted local history.
Nature
The protected area of Hluboček lies within the cadastral territory of Kožichovice. Hluboček is a 2.203-hectare natural monument, first designated on October 20, 1983. Hluboček is also home to a growth locality of the two-leaf squill (Scilla bifolia).
Culture and Local History
On the village square in Kožichovice stands a chapel with an altar from 1892 dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius. The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built over a water spring. The village is also home to a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1791.
Matyáš Žďárský was born in 1856 in a mill in Kožichovice. A commemorative plaque has honored him at house no. 40 in Kožichovice since 1993. The ski binding developed by Žďárský laid the foundation for alpine skiing.
The “Běh Matyáše Žďárského” race has been held every year at the end of September since 1993 under the patronage of Kožichovice and Třebíč.
Water and Trails
The Markovka Reservoir covers 14 hectares and is used for recreation and fishing. The Třebíčský okruh trail runs through Kožichovice from the Hluboček signpost along the western boundary of the municipality to Klučov.
The access to the spring leads from the southwest via a descending staircase with a stone wall.
