Nature

The Trnava Natura 2000 site borders Rovná along the northern boundary of the Rovná u Hořepníku cadastral area. It protects watercourses from lowland to montane elevations, as well as the habitat of the otter. The European protected area of Trnava, with the Natura 2000 code CZ0613334, includes the Rovná u Hořepníku cadastral area.

The landscape around Rovná consists of a mosaic of agricultural land, wooded areas and scattered vegetation. Small watercourses and ponds contribute to ecological stability and the character of the landscape.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Martin is a state-protected immovable cultural monument with registration number 14550/3-3268. The single-nave, longitudinally oriented church building has a tower above the west façade and stands in the middle of a former cemetery enclosed by a retaining or perimeter wall. In Rovná, the Church of St. Martin is designated as an archaeological site in category ÚAN I; archaeological finds dating from the Middle Ages to the modern era have been documented there or are reasonably suspected to be present.

Rovná developed around the Church of St. Martin, which originally served as a parish church. The first written mention of Rovná dates from 1352. Its historic furnishings include the Svatý Martin bell from 1471; it is the oldest bell still serving its original purpose in the Pelhřimov District. The church is open and freely accessible while the bell is being rung.

House No. 4 is also a cultural monument of local significance and retains the character of folk architecture.

In the Bělá Forest, the Cross of St. John stands beside a red-marked hiking trail from Rovná to Červená Řečice.
