Kotlasy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Bohdalovský potok flows through Kotlasy. It rises from the Bohdalovské rybníky ponds and flows into the Oslava in Ostrov.

Nature

The mountains of Dědkovská hora, Blažkov, Rosička and Světka are located in the surroundings of Kotlasy. The Smetanovy sady park is also located in the wider region.

Routes

The “Jarní Vysočinou kolem Rendlíčku” route leads to Kotlasy along a path near the Bohdalovský potok. The “Toulání za pohádkovými bytostmi kolem Oslavy” route also leads to Kotlasy; its final section follows road II/388 back to Ostrov nad Oslavou.

History and Traditions

The first written mention of Kotlasy dates from 1317; at that time, the name of the village was written as “Gutlis”. A document from 1349 records the historical name “Chothloken” for Kotlasy.

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Kotlasy dates from 1900. No regular services are held in the chapel. The historical economy of the Kotlasy settlement was primarily agricultural. A three-field crop rotation system was practiced; rye and oats in particular were grown.

Every year in Kotlasy, the maypole is erected and felled; during the event, local residents perform a play. Easter rattling and clattering are among the local traditions. The traditional burning of witches is also one of the local customs in Kotlasy.

Other places include Spělkov, Rosička, Cikháj, Pokojov, Daňkovice, Prosetín, Nížkov and Bukov.
