Pokojov can be discovered through tangible traces of history, water and nature. The first explicit mention of Pokojov dates back to 1437. One landmark of the village is the chapel, built in 1862 and dedicated to Panna Marie Bolestná, Our Lady of Sorrows.
Culture and History
Next to the chapel stands a stone cross dating from 1843. The small monuments in Pokojov also include a small Stations of the Cross.
After a new image of Panna Marie Bolestná was consecrated on 15 August 1925, the chapel was opened to the public; permission was granted for Mass to be celebrated in Pokojov once a year in September.
Water and Landscape
The Most pond lies south of Pokojov. There was a mill at each end. At the lower mill on Most pond, grain was ground with a millstone and linseed oil was pressed in the traditional manner until 1926.
The Bohdalovský potok forms the southern and eastern cadastral boundary of Pokojov. Fickův rybník is a contractually protected area.
Paths and Nature
A yellow-marked hiking trail runs along the southeastern edge of the Pokojov municipal area. The Přírodním parkem Bohdalovsko educational trail is 38 km long. At the Pokojov station of the educational trail, Fickův rybník is designated as a site of community importance.
There is no designated cycle path or designated cycling route in the municipal area of Pokojov.
Village Life
Traditional fishing competitions for children took place in Pokojov on 3 July 2021.
