Prosetín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Prosetín is located in the Svratecká hornatina Nature Park, in a rising valley at an altitude of 540 to 590 metres above sea level. The village is first mentioned in medieval sources in 1390.

Culture and History

The St Margaret’s Church complex includes a freestanding masonry bell tower. It houses three bells: one dates from 1534, while the other two date from 1925. The Catholic Church of St Margaret replaced a wooden predecessor building in 1738.

An Evangelical church dating from the second half of the 18th century stands in the northern part of Prosetín, adjoining the local cemetery. The Evangelical toleration prayer house was built in 1782 according to the provisions of Joseph II’s Patent of Toleration and is considered the oldest toleration prayer house in Moravia and the Czech Republic.

The Prosetín Oak has stood for several centuries and played an important role in the construction of the local Evangelical church. During the Second World War, the tree served as a starting point for a local partisan group. The group hid in the vicinity of the Evangelical church and had concealed a radio transmitter there.

On the grounds of Prosetín’s former lime kiln, the chimney, kiln and concrete foundations of the former wooden bridge have been preserved.

Nature

The Kocoury Nature Monument is an important natural feature in Prosetín. It consists of a small strip of woodland with thermophilous vegetation on limestone, where the endangered wood anemone occurs. It also contains grass-rich plant communities with species of significance from a plant-geographical perspective, as well as a population of the specially protected wood anemone (Anemone sylvestris).

Trails

Part of the Štěpánovský čtyřlístek educational trail runs through Prosetín. In the northern part of the village, a section of cycle route 5087 runs along the road. Cycle route 5086 passes through the eastern part of Prosetín, running from Starý Svojanov to Nedvědice. On the outskirts of the village, a hiking trail also branches off onto the yellow-marked route towards Olešnice.

Local Speciality

Prosetínské trubičky are made according to a traditional recipe using butter puff pastry. The pastry is filled with a light meringue made from egg whites and a little lemon juice.
