Spělkov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Spělkov lies entirely within the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. At Spělkov, the Svratka forms the border between Bohemia and Moravia. The village is situated in hilly terrain at an elevation of 610 m, while the cadastral area is predominantly wooded and interspersed with meadows.

Nature and Mountain Ranges

The landscape area includes the European-significant site “Údolí Svratky u Krásného”, which encompasses the Spělkov cadastral area and is also part of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The 813-metre-high Buchtův kopec is also located nearby and offers beautiful views.

Walking and Cycling Routes

The “Stromová stezka Zpívající lípy” circular trail connects 11 tree stations and is approximately 20 km long. The circular trail can be completed on foot in about six hours. Another route is the 9-km-long “Za roubenkami údolím Svratky” trail: it begins in Spělkov village square and follows a red-marked cycle path.

History and Village Character

The origins of Spělkov date back to the 13th century; the oldest known mention dates from 1392. According to the oldest known record, the settlement was founded in the territory of Pernštejn Castle. A bell tower stands in Spělkov’s Protestant cemetery among old, heritage-protected lime trees.

Connections

Spělkov is connected by bus to Polička on the Bohemian side, as well as to Nové Město na Moravě and Žďár nad Sázavou on the Moravian side. Spělkov can also be reached by bus along the Via Czechia trail.
